06.14.13 Auto Pedestrian Accident and Possibly an Attempted Robbery

As of this time the case is being investigated, on Friday June 14, at approximately 1:16 pm Baytown Police responded to an auto pedestrian accident and possibly an attempted robbery. Police arrived and the victim told police she was first at the Kroger off of N Alexander ( 1700 N Alexander Dr ) and noticed the suspect smoking a cigarette in front of the store. The victim, her five and two year old boys then went to the CVS (1514 N Alexander Dr) across the street and were in the store for about ten minutes, they all then exited the store and got into their van. The victim told police while she was driving; the suspect approached her from the back while he was inside of her van. The suspect had been waiting for the victim to enter her vehicle in order to rob her. The suspect pulled a knife on the victim and threaten he would hurt one of her boys then ordered her to give him $200 at which point the victim attempted to fight off the suspect trying to cause him to stop the threat. The victim punched the suspect in the mouth and was able to take his knife. During the struggle the victim stopped and the suspect exited the vehicle. The victim drove in one direction then the suspect ran towards her causing the victim to strike the suspect with her vehicle. The suspect was life flighted to Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston . The suspect’s condition is stable at this time. The suspect is identified as Ismael Martinez WM DOB 12/8/59.
