05.26.24 Four News Stories/Baytown

Story 1:  A major accident occurred in the 3200 block of Decker Drive  early Sunday evening , May 26th.  The vehicle was travelling west on Spur 330 when it suddenly left the highway and rolled down the embankment and landed on Decker Drive.  No other information is available.
 
Story 2: On May 13th, officers were dispatched to the 800 block of Northbend Dr. in reference to two dogs that attacked a man in the street. A neighbor reportedly fired a shot, causing the dogs to disperse. The victim of the dog attack was a 28-year-old male. When officers arrived, the dogs were still running at large. The owner of the dogs was identified as 40-year-old Baytown resident Christina Martinez. Officers gave Martinez several chances to secure the two dogs as they ran through the neighborhood barking, but she was only able to contain one of them. Officers arrested her for allowing the animals to run at large. 
The remaining loose dog charged at two officers and bit one of them in the knee. In response, the officer discharged his duty weapon at the dog in an attempt to stop the attack. The dog retreated into a nearby backyard until an Animal Control Officer arrived and took possession of both animals. Both victims, the officer and the 28-year-old male, were taken to Houston Methodist Hospital and treated for their injuries.
 
Story 3:  On Saturday, May 18, 2024, at approximately 12:30 a.m., officers were dispatched to an apartment complex in the 6900 block of N. Main St. in response to a shots fired call. Upon arrival, the victims reported that their apartment had been shot at multiple times by an unknown individual. No injuries were reported. The case is currently under investigation.
 
Story 4:  According to scanner audio, on May 22, a man who had an outstanding warrant from Harris County hid in a relative’s home while the relative was away from her home. The 911 caller reported also living in the home was a handicapped man.  The caller feared a possible assault on the handicapped male.  Police arrived on scene and eventually 50 year old Tony Allen Cooper was arrested.  Check back for the official Baytown Police press release.
