Sheriff Brian Hawthorne reports on October 23, 2023, at approximately 7:30 A.M., Chambers County Sheriff’s Office Deputies were dispatched to FM 1942 near Cedar Bayou in reference to a body found on the side of the road.
Deputies arrived and located a black male in a grassy area not far from the roadway. Chambers County Sheriff’s Office Detectives responded to the scene and initiated an investigation. The initial investigation has revealed that foul play is involved in the death. The victim appears to be a black male in his early 20’s. The individual has been identified as Jathan Robert Wilkerson of Houston, Texas.
The investigation is in the early stages and is still ongoing. Justice of the Peace Pct #4, Blake Sylvia was called to the scene and ordered an autopsy.
