Case #2022-51044 – Homicide
Through the course of the investigation, it was determined that Case #2022-51044 is linked to Case
2022-50420; detectives have identified Welch as the offender. On Sunday, October 9, 2022 at
approximately 1:45 p.m., Baytown police were dispatched to an oil field located near Causeway
Road and Evergreen in reference to two deceased persons. Upon arrival, officers spoke to a
complainant who stated he located two bodies and immediately called 9-1-1. The identities of
decedents were unknown at the time of the report. Baytown Detectives, Crime Scene Investigators,
K-9 unit and Harris County Medical Examiner arrived at the scene. No further information is
known at this time. Investigations are ongoing. Additional information will be provided as soon
as it is available for release.

Case #2022-50420 – Homicide
Suspect was identified as 33-year-old Baytown resident, Ron Welch. The male victim that was
life-flighted was pronounced deceased at the hospital. Investigations are ongoing. Additional
information will be provided as soon as it is available for release.
On October 5, 2022 at approximately 6:30 p.m., Baytown Police responded to a double shooting.
Initially, officers responded to a call of two victims who had been shot, a male and a female at Tri
City Beach Road. Upon arrival, officers began life saving measures. Baytown Police then received
a second call regarding a shooting at Bay Oaks Harbor. Shortly after, the subject came back to
original scene (Tri City Beach Road) and confronted Baytown Officers. Officers were forced to
discharge their duty weapons, striking the suspect at least once, resulting in the death of the
suspect. The subject is suspected of shooting four people tonight; two from Tri City Beach Road –
a male who was pronounced deceased at scene, and a female who is said to be in stable condition.
From the second scene, Bay Oaks Harbor, the suspect shot a male who was life flighted in critical
condition and a second female passerby to the first shooting scene. The two females’ injuries are
not life threatening. All officers involved are uninjured. This investigation is ongoing and no
further information is available at this time. Additional information will be released when it is
available.
