08.27.22 Hot Pursuit on Saturday August 30, 2022 Baytown Cops BaytownCops.com News, BaytownCops.com Videos, Featured Articles, Slider 0 2022-43073 – EvadingBOLO message was sent by Galveston County Sheriff’s Office in reference to a stolen Chevrolet Suburban located in Baytown in a parking lot.Upon arrival, officer observed a white Chevrolet Suburban that matched the description provided by dispatch.Officer activated his patrol vehicle’s overhead emergency lights and waited for assistance from other officers who were arriving.During this time, a dump truck pulled into the parking lot in front of the Suburban, attempting to block it.The suspect who was occupying the driver’s seat of the Suburban attempted to leave and struck the dump truck causing the dump truck to hit the driver side of the Suburban while pushing the vehicle towards the curb.The Suburban jumped over the curb, officers activated emergency lights and sirens and a pursuit began and continued for a couple of miles.During the pursuit, the suspect in the Suburban ran a red light. As officers decided to call off the pursuit, the Suburban became inoperable pulling over into a grassy area next to SH Hwy 146 ramp with both driver side tires deflated.The suspect exited the vehicle and began fleeing on foot.One officer remained in his vehicle to block traffic.Suspect changes direction, attempts to jump the center concrete barrier.An officer deploys taser. Taser did not make contact with suspect. Suspect continues.Suspect refused to stop for police officers, continuing to place himself and others in danger, jumped in front of a black passenger vehicle who was traveling northbound on SH Hwy 146. The vehicle was able to stop and did not strike the suspect.Officer deployed K9. Suspect was apprehended by K9.Suspect identified as 36-year-old, Matthew Brennan from Dickinson.Brennan was taken into custody without incident.Brennan was transported to the hospital to treat K9 contact.Case Status: Harris County ADA accepted felony evading charges on Brennan.
