- Sheriff Brian Hawthorne reports that on Sunday morning, November 8th, 2020 at approximately 4:03 a.m. Chambers County Deputies were dispatched to a burglar alarm at the WOWCO Kubota dealership located at 12120 IH-10, Baytown, Chambers County, Texas. Deputies arrived on scene within 3 minutes of receiving the call to discover that astolen U-Haul van had been used to back through the metal gate and to move a fork lift that was blocking the entrance to the property. At least three male subjects (possibly Hispanic) entered onto the property and stole three 2020 Kubota RTV-X1100CWL-H side by side All-Terrain Vehicles with enclosed cabs. The suspects drove the ATV’s off of the property down the frontage road to a truck towing an enclosed box type trailer waiting on the west bound side of IH-10 frontage road. Once the ATV’s were loaded, it is believed the suspects left the area west bound on IH-10 towards Houston. Chambers County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division and Crime Scene Detectives responded to the scene that morning and immediately began working on the investigation. Through reviewing surveillance footage from surrounding businesses, Detectives were able to determine that multiple vehicles and suspects were involved. A maroon SUV as well as a black passenger car and a truck pulling some type of box trailerare believed to be involved as well as a very distinctive looking red truck which is pictured. The red truck is a single cab (possibly Ford) with a dark maroon or brown driver’s door and a large black metal rack in the bed of the truck and does not have a tailgate. Additionally, Detectives learned that a similar burglary occurred the night before, Saturday, November 7, around 3:36 a.m. at Landsdowne-Moody Company (Kubota Dealer) on US-59 in Rosenberg, TX. The same method of operation was used in the burglary as well as a stolen U-Haul. The suspects were unable to successfully steal any ofthe ATV’s at this location. The stolen U-Haul truck recovered in Chambers County was found to be stolen from a U-Haul dealership located near IH-10 and Uvalde Road in Houston, TX. This investigation is ongoing and Detectives are looking for similar type burglaries that may have occurred throughout the greater Houston area. If anyone has information that may lead to the identity of the suspects or recognizes the vehicle shown in this post, you are encouraged to contact Detective Orlando Jacobs at the Chambers County Sheriff’s Office at (409)267-2500 or call Crime Stoppers at (844)860-8477. “You may be eligible for a cash reward if you provide information the helps secure a successful prosecution in this case,” said Sheriff Hawthorne.
