On Sunday, September 20th at 4:02 a.m., a Baytown Police Officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop after a vehicle failed to stop at a stop light in the 2100 block of N. Main Street. The officer activated the overhead emergency lights of her patrol vehicle and the driver, identified as Sergio Ramirez, continued driving at a high rate of speed until crashing into the Goose Creek Park located at 3 Price Street. Ramirez exited the vehicle, fled on foot and jumped into the Trinity Bay in an attempt to evade the officer. About an hour later, Ramirez was located in the 1500 block of W. Humble and admitted to hitting another vehicle earlier and that is why he did not stop at the stop light. The Harris County District Attorney’s office accepted the charge of Evading with a Motor Vehicle on Ramirez.

2020-45533 – On September 18th at 3:08 a.m., officers responded to a report of a physical disturbance at an apartment in the 2700 block of Ward Road. Upon arrival officers contacted the complainant who advised her and the fatter of her child had been in a dispute and she had placed his belongings outside the apartment for him to retrieve. Upon his arrival the suspect reportedly became angry and subsequently kicked the door open, forcing his way into the apartment. While inside he reportedly took a handgun from the apartment. The complainant chased the suspect out of the apartment with a metal bar, which he was able to take away from her and strike in the leg. The suspect then fled on foot and allegedly fired a round from the gun in an unknown direction. Responding officers observed a Dodge Challenger leaving the apartment at a high rate of speed, which they presumed was involved and attempted to stop the vehicle. However the Challenger was able to elude the officers and make it to an apartment complex in the 1000 block of Northwood. While there officers contacted the owner of the Challenger who advised his vehicle had just been stolen from 270O Ward. It was unclear if the Challenger had anything to do with the Assault. Based on the information gathered during the assault investigation officers contacted the Harris County District Attorney’s Office who accepted charges on the suspect in the assault for Theft of a Firearm, for taking the firearm from the apartment.
