2020-43466 – On September 6th at 12:54 p.m., officers responded to a report of a wrong way driver, an Acura traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes near Sjolander and Interstate 10. While enroute to the area, officers learned that the Acura had collided head on with a 4 door Prius Hatchback, which was traveling eastbound on I-10 at North Main. Upon arrival at the scene of the crash officers found the driver of the Acura, identified as 45 year old Albert Williams Jr. of Baytown, to possibly be under the influence of some type of intoxicant, as was apparent by his behavior and the fact officers found suspected narcotics inside Williams’ vehicle. Having suffered a serious leg injury, Williams was air lifted to Herman Hospital to be treated for his injury. The driver of the Prius, a 77 year old Port Neches woman, suffered multiple injuries and unfortunately passed away while being air lifted to Herman Hospital. Baytown Police Accident Reconstruction Unit and the Harris County District Attorney’s Office Vehicular Assault Team are investigating the crash and as a result of their preliminary investigation, Mr. Williams has been charged with Intoxication Manslaughter and is currently in police custody.
