06.27.20 SWAT Dispatched to a Scene on Patsy Today

  • 2020-31502 – Today at 7:42 a.m., officers were dispatched to a residence in the 1000 block of Patsy in reference to a subject who had called 911 stating he had just executed a female inside the residence. The suspect went on to claim he was armed with handgun and a rifle and was wanting to engage in a gunfight with police.  As officers arrived on scene they observed the suspect in the front yard of the residence armed with two large kitchen knives, which he was waving at officers in an attempt to get them to engage him while he was yelling racial epithets and indicating he would kill white police officers. The suspect made numerous attempts to bait officers into a deadly force encounter before he retreated inside the residence. Our officers made numerous attempts to negotiate with the subject, which were unsuccessful and ultimately resulted in Baytown SWAT and Crisis Negotiators being called to the scene. While awaiting SWAT arrival on scene officers were able to determine that the residence actually belonged to a family member of the suspect, who was out of town at the time, and the suspect did not have permission to be at the residence. Once SWAT and Crisis Negotiators arrived on scene they also made numerous attempts to communicate with the suspect and have him exit the residence, which were also unsuccessful. As a result, at approximately 2:30 p.m., our SWAT team made entry into the residence and found the suspect on the ground in the kitchen area of the residence. The suspect, who appeared to be extremely intoxicated and armed with a knife at the time, was taken into custody without incident. The suspect, a 41 year old Baytown man, was transported to Houston Methodist Baytown Hospital to be evaluated due to his level of intoxication and charges of Burglary with intent to Commit Assault are pending on him. Neither the  suspect nor any of our personnel were injured during the incident.   Lieutenant Steve DorrisCriminal Investigations DivisionCity of Baytown Police Department3200 N.
