Story 1: Official BPD Press Release: 2020-31433 – On June 27th at 6:46 p.m., officers responded to a report of a major accident at the intersection of North Airhart and Decker Drive. Upon arrival officers found the accident involved two vehicles, Chevrolet Silverado, which was an Exxon Mobile Security vehicle, and a Honda CRV. The Silverado was being operated by a 21 year old security contactor for Exxon while the CRV was being operated by 34 year old Alisha Nelson of Baytown and occupied by two children, ages 1 and 5 years. All three occupants of the CRV were airlifted to Memorial Herman Hospital in Houston to be treated. Unfortunately, Ms. Nelson succumbed to her injuries while enroute to Herman Hospital. The children suffered minor injuries and at last report were expected to recover. The driver of the Silverado was transported by ground to Clear Lake Regional to be treated for his non-life threatening injuries. According to witnesses the Silverado was traveling East on Airhart, crossing Decker with a green light. The CRV was traveling inbound on Decker and failed to stop at the red light, striking the Silverado on the driver side, which caused the CRV to veer off the road and strike a light pole.
