Baytown man shoots and kills brother
On May 28th at 3:39 a.m., Baytown Police responded to a shooting at a residence in the 100 block of Blue Bill Bay. The initial report was that a subject called 911 advising he had just shot his brother. Upon arrival at the scene, responding officers detained 55-year-old Kevin Olafson without incident. Officers then entered the residence, which was a mobile home, and found 54-year-old Vincent Olafson deceased on the floor, having suffered from multiple gunshot wounds. Homicide Detectives responded to the scene and began their investigation into the shooting death of the 54 year old. During their investigation, detectives learned through interviews and evidence collected at the scene that the two brothers had been drinking most of the night at some point during the night an altercation occurred between the two men. This resulted in Kevin retrieving his gun and shooting Vincent multiple times in the chest and torso area. Kevin then called 911 and reported the incident to police, staying at the scene until police arrived. Homicide Detectives presented the facts of the case to the Harris County District Attorney’s Office Major Crimes Division at which time charges of Murder were accepted on Kevin Olafson, who is currently being held in the Baytown Jail pending transfer to the Harris County Jail.
