2020- 16796 ******UPDATE****** Three charged with Capital Murder in death of 18-year-old Pasadena man For the past several days, Baytown Homicide Detectives have been working tirelessly, investigating the murder of 18-year-old Byron Handy of Pasadena. Mr. Handy was shot and killed Friday night outside a convenience store in the 1600 block of South State Highway 146 Business. Shortly after the investigation began, we published some details of the case along with photos of the suspect vehicle through our media partners and our social media platforms. As a result, we quickly began receiving tips through Crime Stoppers, which led Detectives to a location in Channelview where they located the suspect vehicle and one of the suspects, 20-year-old Joshua Wolfe of Channelview. During the course of the investigation, Detectives identified two other individuals involved in Mr. Handy’s murder. Those two individuals, 22- year-old Christopher Casarez, and 19-year-old Cesar Villanueva both of Baytown, were later located at their residence, and taken into custody on unrelated charges. Detectives would also learn during the investigation, the murder was a result of a planned robbery attempt that had gone awry. Two of the suspects, Wolfe and Casarez, met with Mr. Handy under the pretense of purchasing narcotics, while the third suspect, Villanueva, acted as a lookout from another vehicle. During the course of that transaction, the suspects attempted to rob Mr. Handy, which unfortunately led to Mr. Handy being shot and killed by Casarez. Late yesterday evening Homicide Detectives presented the facts and evidence gathered during this investigation to the Harris County District Attorney’s Office. As a result, all three suspects have been charged with Capital Murder and are currently being held in the Harris County Jail.
