Official Baytown Police Press Releases Added for All Three Stories–
019-70430 – SHOOTINGOn Saturday, December 7th at 8:38 a.m., Baytown Police responded to the Quality Inn, located at 5222 East Freeway, in reference to an active shooter with hostages. Officers arrived on scene and immediately confronted the shooter, later identified as 44 year-old Morgan Wright. Upon seeing the officers, Morgan dropped his weapon and fled southbound on foot. Officers gave chase and arrested Morgan, without further incident, in the 800 block of Sharon Lane. The room which was shot at multiple times was unoccupied and no hostages were taken. The Harris County District Attorney’s Office accepted the charge of Felon in Possession of a Weapon, Deadly Conduct, and Evading on Morgan. Mug shot attached.
2019-70483 – STABBING On Saturday, December 7th at 2:00 p.m., Baytown Police responded to the 100 block of Avenue K in reference to a large disturbance involving a weapon. Upon arrival, a witness told police that a man was stabbed and he was in the house. The officers made entry and located the victim who told officers that he and Preston Peterson were arguing when Preston pulled out a knife and stabbed him on his back, chest and lower right side. EMS arrived on location and transported the victim to Bayshore Hospital. A description of Preston was dispatched and an officer located him and recovered a bloody knife from his person. Preston was arrested and taken to the Baytown Jail. The Harris County District Attorney’s Office accepted the charge of Aggravated Assault/Family Violence. Mug shot attached.
2019-70545 – MAJOR ACCIDENT On Friday, December 7th at 8:43 p.m., Baytown Police responded to the 4700 block of N. SH146 in reference to a major accident. Upon arrival, the officer spoke with the driver of the Ford F-150 who stated he was traveling southbound on SH 146 and attempted to turn left into the parking lot of the Limelight, when he struck a black Chevrolet vehicle. The driver of the Chevrolet stated he was traveling Northbound on SH 146 and was unable to stop before colliding into the Ford F-150. Each vehicle had three passengers, one of which was taken by Life Flight to Memorial-Hermann with a neck injury. Two passengers were taken to Texas Children’s Hospital with a head injury and the other passengers were taken to local hospitals with non-life threatening injuries. The investigation continues to determine if the driver of the Ford F-150 was under the influence of an illegal drug.

Story 1: On Saturday morning, December 7, Baytown police, EMS and Fire and Rescue responded to a shots fired call. Details are few, but one person was taken into custody. Check back for the official police press release.
Story 2: On Saturday evening, a stabbing occurred on Avenue L in Baytown. The stabbed victim was transported to Bay Shore Hospital by ambulance. Check back for the official police report.
