2019-54388 Arrest made in shooting death of 20-year-old Baytown man
*******UPDATE 9-15-19 @2:00 p.m. ******* On September 15th at 1:49 a.m., Baytown Police responded to a report of a shooting at the Briarwood Apartments located in the 1700 block of James Bowie. Once responding officers arrived on the scene, they found 20- year-old Mickell Rhodes lying on the ground in a breezeway, who appeared to have sustained multiple gunshot wounds. Mickell was subsequently airlifted to Houston Memorial Hermann Hospital, where unfortunately he succumbed to his injuries. During the course of the investigation Detectives learned, that Mickell was with two other males at the complex, one of who is identified as 18-year-old Ellery Jackson. The three men were walking to another friend’s apartment when Mickell and Ellery got into an argument over a handgun that Ellery was in possession of. During that argument, Ellery pulled the gun and shot Mickell multiple times before fleeing the scene. Based on the evidence and information uncovered by Detectives during the course of the investigation, Murder charges were accepted and filed on Ellery Jackson through the Harris County District Attorney’s Office. Shortly after noon today Baytown Detectives, along with Deputies from the Harris County Sheriff’s Department, located Ellery at an apartment in the 5300 block of Aldine Bender in Houston where he was taken into custody without incident.
