09.15.19 Shooting on James Bowie Early Sunday Morning (Update: Press Release)

2019-54388 20 year old shot and killed at Baytown apartment complex On September 15th at 1:49 a.m., Baytown Police responded to a report of a shooting at the Briarwood Apartments located in the 1700 block of James Bowie. Once responding officers arrived on the scene, they found 20- year-old Mickell Rhodes lying on the ground in a breezeway, who appeared to have sustained multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was subsequently airlifted to Houston Memorial Hermann Hospital, where unfortunately he succumbed to his injuries. During the preliminary investigation, Homicide Detectives have learned that the victim was with several male acquaintances in the breezeway when an argument broke out between the males. During that argument, one of the males pulled a handgun and shot the victim multiple times before fleeing the scene. Homicide Detectives are currently conducting interviews and following up on leads to determine the identity of the shooter and the circumstances surrounding the murder. Baytown police, EMS and Fire and Rescue responded to the scene of shooting at 1711 James Bowie. The incident occurred shortly before 2 am Sunday morning. A 20-year-old male was shot and airlifted to a Houston hospital. Check back for the official Baytown police press release.
