2019-47993 – On Wednesday, August 14th, at approximately 11:45 p.m., Officers were dispatched to a major accident involving two vehicles on Garth Road just beneath the Interstate-10 overpass. Call remarks indicated a roll over with a person pinned beneath. Upon arrival, Officers observed an older model Jeep Cherokee lying on its left hand side. A male passenger was outside the vehicle sitting in the roadway, however the female driver was still pinned inside the vehicle. Fire personnel arrived on scene and extracted the female driver from the front seat through the rear passenger compartment. The female driver was immediately air lifted to a Houston area hospital with serious injuries. Her condition is “unknown” at this time. According to a witness, the Jeep was traveling southbound on Garth road approaching the intersection of Interstate-10 service road and failed to stop at the red light. The Jeep continued through the red light and struck a small passenger car turning left onto the I-10 service road westbound. The impact caused the Jeep to flip on its left side just beneath the overpass. The male driver of the second vehicle was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries. The driver of the Jeep was cited for Driving with a Suspended License, Running a Red Light and No Seat Belt while the passenger of the Jeep was cited for No Seat Belt.
Around 11:45 pm Wednesday night, August 14, Baytown Fire, EMS and police responded to the scene of a major accident at Garth Road and I-10. According to information gathered at the scene, the SUV driven by a 24 year old female, rolled over after being hit by another vehicle. The female was airlifted to a Houston hospital.
