05.28.19 Three Storie: An Arrest/Shooting/Police Pursuit

2019-31204 – On May 27th, at 11:18 p.m.,

officers observed a white male walking on the roof of a business

 in the 1800 block of Garth Road. Once the suspect observed

 the officers, he attempted to flee, running to the north end

of the building where officers were able to detain the suspect.

 Officers identified the suspect as 24 year old Joseph Smith

 of Baytown and a computer checked revealed he had an

 outstanding warrant out of Harris County for Criminal Trespass.

 Smith was then transported to the Baytown Jail where he was booked

 on his outstanding warrant.  Officers checked the surrounding businesses

 but found no signs of damage or theft.

Story 2:

2019-31209 – On May 27th  at 11:38 p.m., officers responded

 to a walk in shooting victim at the Houston Methodist Baytown Hospital.

Initial information was that the shooting had occurred at 4403 Craigmont Street

(McElroy Park) at the basketball court. Officers responded to McElroy Park

but were unable to locate a crime scene. The juvenile victim, who sustained

 gunshot wounds to the lower abdomen and right leg, was subsequently

 transported to Hermann Hospital via Life Flight for precautionary reasons.

Detectives responded and during the initial investigation it was learned

the incident actually occurred at 3400 Shady Hill, where according to witnesses

the juvenile and an 18 year old male were at the apartments sitting outside

 when a car pulled up and opened fire. The juvenile and the 18 year old

 attempted to flee on foot, however the juvenile was struck by the gunfire

 and subsequently transported to the hospital by family members.

 Investigation is ongoing.

Story 3:

A police pursuit began around 11:30 am in Chambers County and culminated in Baytown.  DPS was pursuing the driver and passenger of this pickup, a male and a female, when their pickup ran into this jeep at Massey Tompkins and Cedar Bayou. They both sustained minor injuries and were transported to the hospital. The female driver of this Jeep also sustained minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital. According to information gathered at the scene, the female passenger in the fleeing pickup had an outstanding warrant.
