2018-51260 – On September 2nd at 12:27 a.m., officers responded to a report of an attempted kidnapping at a residence in the 100 block of East Hunnicutt. The caller stated that an unknown subject had entered their residence and attempted to take a one year old child and that people at the residence had the suspect detained. Upon arrival officers found the residents did in fact have a subject detained, who had apparent swelling and contusions about his head area. During the preliminary investigation officers learned that the detained subject, who appeared to be extremely intoxicated, had arrived at the residence while the residents were outside partying. The suspect then entered the house, without the homeowner’s knowledge or permission, and attempted to walk out with a one year old child, who was inside the residence with another adult.  The adult inside the residence attempted to stop the suspect and a fight ensued which ultimately ended up outside, where the other party goers intervened as well and were able to physically overtake the suspect and detain him until police arrived. The suspect was taken into custody and transported to the Baytown jail. Once at the jail the suspect was evaluated by EMS and the determination was made to transport him to San Jacinto Hospital for further examination. Due to the injuries he sustained during the altercation the decision was made to transport him to a Houston area hospital to be treated. Detectives are still investigating and charges of Burglary of a Habitation with the intent to Kidnap are pending.
