Update:
2018-45111 – On August 1st at 8:48 p.m., officers responded to a major accident in the 9600 block of Interstate 10 involving a motorcycle. Upon arrival officers found a black and white Suzuki motorcycle laying on its side with heavy damage and the rider of the motorcycle, a 47 year old Port Arthur man, already in the back of the ambulance being treated for multiple injuries. During the initial investigation officers were informed by witnesses that several motorcycles, appearing to all be riding together, were traveling west bound in I-10 when one of the motorcycles accelerated to try to pass between two cars that were traveling nearly side by side in two of the lanes. As the motorcycle weaved between the cars it struck the rear corner of a Volkswagen Beetle, which caused the rider to lose control, causing the motorcycle to lay on its side while the rider was thrown from the motorcycle. The rider of the motorcycle was flown to Herman Hospital in Houston to be treated for his multiple injuries. His condition is unknown at this time and the accident is still under investigation. It is also unknown at this point if alcohol was a factor in the crash.
