07.03.18 Police Responded to Scene Involving 82-Year-Old Male

2018-39086 – On July 2^nd at 8:09 p.m., officers responded to a welfare concern at an apartment in the 1000 block of Birdsong. Upon arrival officers contacted the complainant who advised one of the residents, an 82 year old male, was mentally unstable and off of his medications which was causing him to act out aggressively.  Officers attempted to establish a dialogue with the subject and have him exit the apartment, however he refused and became increasingly agitated, at one point even threatening to get his gun, indicating he may want to cause harm to the officers or other people in the apartment building. Baytown Police Department Crisis Negotiation Team and SWAT responded to the scene and were able to take the 82 year old into custody. He was subsequently transported to the Houston Methodist San Jacinto Hospital where an Emergency Detention Order was filed and he was admitted for psychiatric evaluation.
