Disturbance leads to shooting of 16 year old
On May 3
rd at 7:36 p.m., officers responded to a report of a disturbance in
the area of the 3100 block of Wisconsin Street. Upon arrival at the scene
responding officers found two victims suffering from apparent gunshot
wounds, a 16 year old male, who had been struck several times by shotgun
pellets, and a 50 year old male, who had had been struck on the arm.
Once on scene witnesses told Officers of a passenger car that had fled the
scene just after the shooting occurred. The description of that vehicle was
broadcast to responding officers and they were able to locate that vehicle a
short distance from the crime scene. The vehicle was subsequently
stopped and three people were detained, all adults in their 20’s.
During the initial investigation Detectives learned that there had been a
disturbance involving several subjects, including the shooter and the 16
year old male, in the alley way near the intersection of Louisiana and
Market Streets. At some point during the disturbance the 50 year old male,
who lived nearby, heard the disturbance and came out to break it up. In
doing so one of the males involved in the disturbance left and returned a
few moments later with a shotgun, firing at least two rounds from the
shotgun in the direction of the two victims before fleeing on foot.
The 16 year old was taken by life flight to a Houston area hospital where
he underwent surgery for his injuries. At last report he was out of surgery
and in stable condition and expected to survive. The 50 year old suffered
minor injuries and was treated at Houston Methodist San Jacinto Hospital.
This investigation is ongoing and Detectives are currently conducting
interviews with the three subjects who were detained leaving the scene to
determine what, if any, their roles were in the incident and possibly the
identity of the shooter.
