2018-25518 – On May 1st at 8:49 p.m., officers responded to the Houston Methodist San Jacinto Hospital Emergency Room in reference to a gunshot victim, identified as 22 year old Tedrick Hall, that had been brought to the ER by private vehicle and succumbed to his injuries. During the ensuing investigation Detectives learned that a mother and her 18 year old son, who is a friend of the victim, had picked the victim up from his job earlier in the day and while on the way to their residence in the 1300 block of Edison the 18 year old and the victim began rough housing or “wrestling” in the back seat of the vehicle while the mother drove. Once at their residence the rough housing continued and the two young men began wrestling inside one of the bedrooms of the residence. As the two young men were wrestling they fell onto the bed where a handgun was laying in plain view. At some point the two rolled near the gun and the 18 year old picked up the gun to move it and as he pulled away from the victim the weapon discharged, striking the victim one time. The 18 year old summoned his mother and they loaded the victim into their car and rushed him to the emergency room where he expired. Detectives are still investigating and once the investigation is complete those findings will be submitted to the Harris County District Attorney’s Office and ultimately to a Grand Jury to determine what if any charges will be filed against the 18 year old or if this was in fact a tragic accident.
