Domestic Disturbance ends in gunfire
On May 1st at 7:45 p.m., officers responded to a domestic disturbance call
with shots fired at a residence in the 400 block of Arbor Street. Responding
officers were advised that during the disturbance the suspect brandished a
handgun and fired several rounds inside the residence. Also, the
complainant, along with two other adult females who were inside the
residence, was able to flee the residence and make it to safety before calling
the police.
Once on scene Officers learned that the suspect and the complainant had
been in a heated argument earlier in the evening due to their strained
marriage. At some point during that argument the suspect retrieved the
handgun and ultimately fired multiple rounds inside the residence, none of
which were directed at or struck the complainant. Officers also learned
that the suspect, now identified as 52 year old Jose Gonzalez, was possibly
still inside the residence and armed.
Responding officers made several attemptsto loud hail the suspect to have
him exit the residence and surrender, to no avail. Baytown SWAT and
Hostage Negotiators were called to the scene and several more
unsuccessful attempts to contact Mr. Gonzalez were made. With no
response from Mr. Gonzalez, SWAT Officers made entry into the
residence where they found Mr. Gonzalez deceased from an apparent selfinflicted
gunshot wound.
The complainant and two other females were not injured and no charges
are expected as a result of this incident.
