Update/Official BPD Press Release: 2018-16401 – On March 19th at 10:35 p.m. officers responded to a report of a major accident in the 2800 block of North Alexander. Upon arrival officers learned that the accident involved two vehicles, with one being rolled over. The vehicles were identified as a gray Hyundai Sonata (overturned) and a blue GMC Pickup truck. During the initial investigation officers learned the GMC was traveling at a high rate of speed on Alexander and struck the Hyundai from the rear causing the Hyundai, which was occupied by an adult male driver and two adult female passengers, to overturn seriously injuring the rear passenger, a 41 year old Baytown woman. The driver of the Pickup, identified as 30 year old Baltazar Delagarza of Baytown, was contacted by officers who determined that Mr. Delagarza exhibited signs of intoxication and therefore he was placed under arrest for Intoxication Assault and transported to the Baytown Jail where he was booked on those charges. Baytown Police Department Accident Reconstruction Unit and the Harris County District Attorney’s Office Vehicular Assault Team were notified and will be conducting a detailed investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident. The rear passenger was subsequently transported via Life Flight to Herman Hospital in Houston to be treated for her injuries and at last report was listed in critical condition.

Baytown’s emergency response teams responded to the scene of a major accident on Monday night, March 19, 2018. The accident involved two vehicle — a truck and a car. The car was occupied by two females. One of the females was air lifted to a Houston hospital. The male driver of the truck was transported to a local hospital.
