2018-10097 – On February 20th at 3:13 a.m., officers were dispatched to the Bays Inn in the 2300 block of Decker in reference to a person with a weapon call. Upon arrival officers learned that a male subject had arrived at the hotel to confront another male who he suspected was having a relationship with his wife. The two males met in the parking lot and engaged in a verbal altercation that was quickly escalating to a physical altercation at which time the complainant and another subject attempted to separate them. During this time one of the two males engaged in the altercation was able to produce a sword and threatened the other males before fleeing on foot. Officers searched the area and were able to locate the male hiding in a field on the south side of Airhart Drive. The male, identified as 35 year old Jose Garcia of Baytown, showed signs of being intoxicated and was subsequently placed under arrest for public intoxication and transported to the Baytown Jail where he was booked on those charges. Officers were unable to locate the sword at the time of the incident, however earlier this morning a citizen reported finding the sword which was turned over to police. Mug shot attached.
