Official Press Release from BPD:

2018- 4745 – On January 24th at 5:51 p.m., officers observed three motorcycles driving recklessly and traveling at a high rate of speed south bound on Alexander. Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on one of the motorcycles, a 2016 Yamaha, however the motorcycle failed to stop and in fact accelerated to evade the officer. A pursuit ensued eventually with the motorcycle turning north on Main street from Texas Avenue and accelerating to a high rate of speed, pulling away from the officers. As the motorcycle reached the intersection of North Main and Ward Road, the rider lost control of the motorcycle, struck the bed of a pickup that was attempting to turn north onto Main Street from Ward, causing the motorcycle to crash. The rider, identified as  Jeremy Vasquez of Baytown was uninjured and transported to the Baytown Jail where he was booked and charged with Felony Evading with a Motor Vehicle. When asked why he ran Mr. Vasquez stated  “I thought I could get away , but you guys came out of nowhere.”
