Update/Official Press Release: 2017-60603 – On October 17th at 11:28 p.m., officers were dispatched to a single vehicle accident in the 1000 block of Ward Road. Upon arrival officers found a white Ford SUV rolled over, off the roadway and resting against a building. Officers also found a white female, later identified as 38 year old Jennifer Mercer of Baytown, had been ejected from the vehicle and pronounced deceased at the scene. The preliminary investigation indicates that the vehicle was traveling east on Ward crossing Alexander when the driver lost control of the vehicle, which ultimately rolled and struck an electric pole then the building. Baytown Police Accident Reconstruction Team is currently investigating to determine the exact cause of the accident and whether alcohol played a role.

A major accident with fatality occurred Tuesday night, October 17, 2017, on Ward Road. The accident in many ways mimicked an accident that occurred less than 48 hours earlier. In the first accident on N. Alexander at Lanier, a male driver was ejected from his vehicle, pinned underneath and pronounced dead at the scene. In tonight’s accident, a female driver was ejected from her vehicle, pinned underneath and pronounced dead at the scene. The accident occurred around 11:20 pm. Please pray for the family and friends of the victim.
