Beef Products Inc. (BPI) of South Dakota in partnership with Pentecostals of Baytown have set up a meal distribution center at their church 5303 N Hwy 146. BPI’s goal is to push out 7000 boxed meals per day between lunch & dinner, through Saturday or until the food is all gone. The boxes include a hamburger, chips & water. BPI wishes to feed whoever will come: survivors, residents, contractors, public safety and anyone with an appetite. Families may pick up boxes for their family and neighbors may pick up multiple boxes for distribution to their neighborhoods. The Red Cross is also onsite to assist in some mobile distribution as well.
Regarding the accident you inquired about, it is a two vehicle major accident with a roll over in the 3300 block of Decker (aka Spur 330) inbound (southbound). It is a fatality accident with one person deceased, however the identity of the deceased has not been determined at this time. Baytown Police Department Accident Reconstruction Officers are on scene investigating the cause of the accident. Right now it appears that the only occupants of the vehicles were the drivers. Traffic is being diverted off of the main lanes of Decker inbound and onto the feeder road due to the main lanes being closed inbound while officers are investigating. The main lanes are expected to be closed for just a little longer so the heavy delays in the area, especially exiting I-10 onto Decker, should clear up soon.
