Sheriff Brian C. Hawthorne reports that Tuesday, August 22, shortly after 5:00 p.m., Chambers County 911 received a call from Waste Management that one of their employees discovered what appeared to be human remains at their facility located in the 4700 block of TriCity Beach Road in Chambers County Texas.
Chambers County Sheriff’s Office deputies and detectives responded to the scene and confirmed the remains were that of a
human male. Detectives requested the assistance of Texas Rangers and the Texas Department of Criminal Justice cadaver dogs.
It was determined that the remains were dumped sometime Tuesday and were from solid waste collected in Harris, Liberty or Chambers County.
An inquest was begun by Chambers County Precinct 6 Justice of the Peace Larry Cryer and an autopsy was ordered. Preliminary results by the medical examiner’s office determined that the remains are that of a male between the age of 13 and 50.
No identification of the victim has been determined at this time and the ivestigation by Chambers County detectives, Texas Rangers and TDCJ are continuing at the scene today.
