2017-47071 – On August 9th at 11:41 p.m., officers responded to a rolling disturbance
that began in the 700 block of East Republic but was now on North Alexander.
The caller/complainant advised her boyfriend, identified as 28 year old Michael Porter
of Baytown, was following her and he had a knife. Officers ultimately located Mr. Porter’s vehicle
pulling into the Exxon located at North Main and Massey Tompkins. Officers attempted to contact
Mr. Porter in the parking lot, however Mr. Porter refused to comply with officers commands and
ultimately fled the parking lot at a high rate of speed in an attempt to elude the officers and
a pursuit ensued. Officers pursued Mr. Porter as he made his way to Northwood and onto Woodway,
where he exited the vehicle and continued to flee on foot. As officers chased Mr. Porter on foot, he
fled into an apartment and closed the door. Officers made entry into the apartment where they found
Mr. Porter standing in the kitchen, continuing to refuse to comply, holding a large butcher knife in his
hand and making threats to harm the officers. Officers were able to take up a tactical position
and deploy a department issued Taser, striking Mr. Porter and causing him to fall to the ground at
which time he was taken into custody. As a result of the inciden,t officers contacted the
Harris County District Attorney’s Office and once the facts of the case were explained they
accepted charges on Mr. Porter for Felony Evading in a Motor Vehicle and Aggravated Assault on a Police Officer.
