2017-38349 – This morning at 9:42 a.m., officers were dispatched to a shooting at the Briarwood Apartments in the 1700 block of James Bowie. Upon arrival officers found two individuals shot at least one time each. One of the subjects, a 22 year old Baytown man who turned out to be the complainant, was standing over the other subject, a 20 year old Baytown man, who had apparently collapsed from his gunshot wound. Preliminary investigation indicates that the 22 year old complainant had gone to the apartments to purchase a firearm from an individual. Once at the complex the complainant was approached by the 20 year old, who was not the person he was supposed to meet, and the 20 year old displayed a firearm and demanded the complainant hand over his money. The complainant, who was also armed, pulled his weapon and fired two shots at the 20 year old. At least one of those bullets struck the 20 year old in the torso and the other struck the complainant in the leg. The complainant called the police and stayed with the 20 year old until officers arrived. Once officers arrived the complainant complied with their commands and is cooperating with the investigation. Both subjects were flown to Houston area hospitals to be treated for their injuries. At last check both subjects were in stable condition. This case is currently still under investigation.
