2017-36344 – On June 19th at 6:04 p.m., officers were dispatched
to the 3200 block of Illinois in reference to a disturbance. Earlier in the
day officers responded to the same location when the home owner came
home to find her door kicked in and 27 year old Jose Michel of Baytown,
inside her residence. Mr., Michel ran from the residence when the homeowner
screamed and officers were unable to locate him at the time. Later in the day
Mr. Michel returned to the residence and threatened the homeowner with a knife
at which time she called the police again. Officers responded to the area and
found Mr. Michel on a balcony of a garage apartment in the area of Cherry street. Officers
began giving commands to Mr. Michel, which he ignored. Michel eventually jumped
off the balcony and ran from officers on foot. Officers chased Mr. Michel to a residence
in the 1300 block of Pine Street where officers attempted to take him into custody, however
Mr. Michel refused to comply resisting officers and physically assaulting officers as they
were trying to place him under arrest. One of the officers deployed his
department issued X-26 Taser, which had little to no effect on Mr. Michel.
After several minutes of struggling with Mr. Michel officers were able to get him secured
in handcuffs and placed under arrest. Mr. Michel was treated for minor injuries he sustained
during the altercation and transported to the Baytown Jail where he was booked and charged
with Burglary with Intent to Commit Assault, a 1st degree felony. One of our officers
suffered a minor laceration during the altercation and had to be treated at the ER
. All officers were able to return to full duty.
