Homicide
On May 11th at 12:25 p.m., officers responded to a shooting in the 1200 block of Northwood, Laguna Azul apartments. Upon arrival, officers located the body of 18 year old Angelo Singleton lying on the ground in front of the 23 building. A preliminary investigation shows Singleton was shot at least one time. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Baytown Fire paramedics. Officers detained five men who were in the immediate area during the shooting. Detectives processed the crime scene and conducted interviews late into the evening.
19 year old Baytown man Kendall Banks JR was one of the five men detained during the initial police response. He confessed to shooting Singleton which corroborated several eye witness accounts stating he was the sole suspect. Detectives believe the shooting had a narcotics nexus. A charge of Murder has been accepted by the Harris County District Attorney’s Office; detectives will formally file the charge tonight. Banks’ mug shot is attached as a pdf file.
