12.20.14 Two Heart-Warming Christmas Stories

On Saturday, December 20, 2014, Baytown Polices’ Blue Santa entourage traveled the streets of Baytown, Texas for its annual Christmas gifts giveaway. The cheerful entourage was made up of a caravan of police cruisers, employee vehicles and the the Baytown Swat vehicle. The group of volunteers stopped at designated homes with anxious families waiting. The program was started in the 1970s and is now spearheaded by Detective Nathan Gallop who is the president of the Blue Santa program. Blue Santa is 501c3 non-profit organization, which operates solely from donations and contributions from within the community. Toy donations can be made at the Baytown Police Department or drop box locations listed on the Blue Santa website.

Monetary donations can be made in person at the Baytown Police Department, online at www.baytownbluesanta.com, or by mail to:
Baytown Blue Santa

In our second heart-warming story, I met Mr. Mac.

Mr. Mac spearheads a bicycle giveaway each year during the Christmas season. This year he, along with his assistants, brought 520 bicycles to a parking lot located on Alexander Drive. Many children were blessed to receive a bicycle free of charge.
