Baytown Detective Joins AG in Promoting the Fight Against Cyber Crimes
Baytown Detective Aaron Crowell was recently asked to join Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott in San Antonio for a press conference announcing the 2,000th predator arrested by the state Cyber Crimes and Fugitive units. This milestone highlights the success of more than seven years of dedicated law enforcement and the commitment to work cooperatively between local, state and federal law enforcement officials, including the Baytown Police Department.
Detective Crowell, who specializes in investigating internet crimes against children and serves as Secretary on the Board of Directors of the Texas Municipal Police Association, was asked to participate in the special press conference to speak on the importance of cyber-crimes investigation.
“We are extremely proud of the outstanding people we have on our police force,” said City Manager Garry Brumback. “Aaron Crowell is a perfect representative of this organization, our community, our state and our nation.”
The Baytown Police Department is an affiliate agency of the Houston Metro Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) task force, which investigates and prosecutes those who are involved in online child exploitation and child pornography. Houston Metro ICAC is made up of multiple representatives from Baytown, Harris County, Houston, LaPorte, Pasadena, Pasadena ISD, and others. Detective Crowell, along with Baytown PD’s Detective Daniel Estes, actively investigates internet crimes against children, and participates in multijurisdictional efforts to combat these crimes.
