The Baytown Police Department is currently investigating the homicide of a 41-year-old male. On January 23, 2025, at approximately midnight, officers responded to a report of shots fired at a bar located in the 4900 block of Main Street in Baytown, Texas. Upon arrival, officers located the victim with a gunshot wound. They immediately rendered life-saving aid until Baytown Fire and EMS took over CPR efforts. The victim was transported to Houston Methodist-Baytown Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the victim was involved in a physical altercation with two known individuals, a male and a female, prior to the shooting. Texas DPS air support assisted in the response.

Officers later located the suspect vehicle at an apartment complex in the 1600 block of Garth Road. A perimeter was established, and both individuals were taken into custody without incident. The male suspect, identified as 32-year-old Njoroge Kuria of Baytown, has been charged with Murder. The female suspect was detained for questioning but later released.
