Our officers and detectives performed quickly and professionally in responding to this high stress call. Working as a team they were quickly able to identify and locate a suspect.
- At approximately 0035 hours Officers responded to a report of a shooting at the Down on Main Street Bar located in the 4900 block of North Main.
- Upon arrival officers found a 41 year old Robert Lindsey of Baytown on the ground suffering from what appeared to be at least one gunshot wound
- Bystanders, along with BPD officers and BFD emergency personnel performed life saving measures before the victim was transported to Baytown Methodist where he succumbed to his injuries.
- Baytown Homicide Detectives and Crime Scene personnel arrived a short time later and quickly identified two persons of interest, a male and a female, that had fled the scene prior to officers’ arrival
- The two persons of interest were located at an apartment complex in the 1600 block of Garth where they were detained and transported to the Baytown Jail.
- Based on the rapid facts and evidence uncovered by responding officers and Baytown Detectives the Harris County District Attorney’s Office has accepted murder charges on 32 year old Njoroge Kuria of Baytown.
- The second person of interest, the female, was released without charges
- Victims family has been notified
