On Monday, September 9, a special ceremony commemorating Baytown Police Officer Bobby Paulk was held at the Baytown Police Department. . At this special event, the Bobby Paulk “Seat of Honor,” was permanently showcased in the reception area of the Public Safety Building.

On September 9, 1977, Officer Paulk, Badge #41, was traveling on Bayway Drive near Lakewood Drive when his police vehicle was struck head-on by a vehicle driven by an intoxicated driver.

The driver, under the influence of drugs and alcohol, crossed three lanes of traffic and collided with Officer Paulk’s vehicle. Officer Paulk died as a result of his injuries. He had served with the Baytown Police Department for 10 months.
